Use a hardware wallet
The safest way to store your crypto is to use a hardware wallet. Think of a wallet from Ledger or Trezor, for example. These are physical devices that look a bit like a USB stick. This stick generates a key that only you have in your hands. Never share this key and regularly back up your recovery phrases so that you can always access your crypto.
A hardware wallet is so safe because you do not connect it to the internet. That is why we sometimes call it a ‘cold wallet’: your funds are frozen until you ‘defrost’ them yourself to trade or spend. You are the only one who has access to your coins.
Save online at a service
‘Storing online’ may set off alarm bells. Because didn’t crypto experts say it’s unsafe? And maybe you remember the hacks at various exchanges. Amdax has an extremely high-security vault to store your crypto online. It uses the strictest security measures. Think of multi-signature wallets and cold storage: keys are stored in the safest way possible.
Amdax has even made such an effort that it has a registration with De Nederlandsche Bank. Good security is their main goal. The company does nothing else with the assets under their management. With their ultramodern vault, they remove all credit risk. Should something happen that jeopardizes continuity, a disaster recovery plan offers customers a full recovery option to unlock their funds.
Software wallet
Some people find a software wallet to be more convenient. You can use it, but you have to be aware that there is always a risk that you will lose your crypto. You have to be extra careful. Software wallets are often connected to the internet, which makes them more vulnerable to hackers. Make sure you have a strong passphrase and enable two-factor authentication to make your account extra secure.
Only use wallets and software from trusted sources. Follow the basic safety rules: don’t just click on links and files, use a proper antivirus and firewall, and keep your operating system up to date.
